One of the most important factors in building your traffic which in turn builds your revenue is to promote and market your site. Sure, you might be able to just throw up your site, let it sit and hope you get picked up by the search engines but when it comes down to it you are competing against thousands of other sites, many of which do that same thing. If you spend even just a little time promoting your site you should be able to build a steady stream of new users and once people start using your content it becomes somewhat viral since most of your content links back to your site. But even then, it’s a good idea to continue to market and promote your site.
Marketing and promotion don’t mean spam. Though many myspace resource site owners will try spamming as a method to get traffic. Many will end up being dropped from the search engines indexes and if they spam their site on myspace (through bulletins and comments and such) too much they could have their sites URL blacklisted which pretty much kills all traffic from myspace users using your content…something you do NOT want.
There are various ways to market and promote your site. Some free and easy. Some more involved and cost you either time or money. But you should spend some time with multiple methods and always continue to push.
